Failed Inquiries

by kholinar

The circle breaks,
illumined cast
beg that we find them
unworthy, tasteless
from our mouths rejected.

In waiting, the chamber has
sickened. Divided men
beneath us wriggle,
split sides stitched,
strap vines across exits —

Recall refuses the question,
severe in her censure,
hands sift dark humors…
We wrap our faces
and crawl to our beds.
