About

Graphic designer, grant writer and IT guy in the non-profit sector for 8 years. I am interested in mythic literature, poetry and the place of traditional forms of art in new media. I also tend to compulsively monitor rss feeds of new iphone and mac apps.

This site is a public notebook for ideas, thoughts and snippets that I’ll be constantly adding, editing and updating in the hope that they will grow with me. I can’t emphasize enough that, as a notebook, this is all draft material. Feel free to comment, critique, praise or lambast anything here. That’s really the point. A place that inspires me to write.

At home, I live with my wife, Megan, and my cat, Corin. Megan is an amazing writer who is still finding her focus, and Corin is loud but affectionate.

So, why “Feste’s Lute”? The title was chosen for a lot of reasons. I will put forth a few of these.

The first was a nod to the old idea that knowing that you are a fool is a significant step on the road to wisdom. From Aristotle to Shakespeare and beyond, this concept has fascinated me. Feste, the Fool of Twelfth Night, is an example of the difference between one who understands folly and those who are fools without realization.

So the title is a source of inspiration to become more than I am as well as a cautionary note to myself to look closely at whatever supposed wisdom might issue into the void.

Lastly, the site and the tools that I use to write are much like the Lute that a fool or minstrel might use. It is an inspiration and an outlet, and many times notes may flow without rhythm or melody as I muse. Above all this is a place for pieces to develop and improve. Nothing is final. Like the music that wafts from vibrant strings, these may be played again, but it is doubtful they will be quite the same…

About the Lunatic Island Message Board

Lunatic Island is a site I have owned and administrated since 2003. It was and is a place for a band named Luna Halo’s fans to communicate their passion and meet others with similar tastes. Since the site was started social media sites like Myspace and Facebook have taken up that role, and so the site is mostly dead. It will remain up and running just in case. I recommend that anyone who is interested in Luna Halo or wants to meet other fans go to lunahalo.com or myspace.com/lunahalo as those are the most current places for LH info.
